Fort Young Hotel – Roseau, Dominica
As indicated in a previous nagel news posting dated May 9, 2012, Edward Nagel, Principal of nagel + associates inc. is thrilled to be rolling out our international anti-fraud training sessions, in partnership with The Caribbean Institute of Forensic Accounting (CIFA).
The first session was held on the beautiful Caribbean island of Dominica on September 11-12, 2012, entitled:
“Fundamentals in Fraud and Forensic Auditing”
The high-profile frauds of the past decade have resulted in senior management and boards embracing the fact that fraud is an assumed risk of operating their business or organization. As such, organizations are taking proactive steps to prevent and detect fraud. The potential impact of internal fraud on an organization is largely driven by how—and how quickly—it can be uncovered and the effectiveness of the ensuing forensic investigation.
This session was led by seasoned forensic accountant (Edward Nagel). Citing real-life cases, this two-day comprehensive, interactive fraud awareness training course focused on the fundamentals of fraud including: What is fraud and why do people commit fraud; the types of frauds that typically plague organizations and how to detect such schemes; and what makes an effective forensic investigation. The course also covered recent trends in risk management and investigation best practices, amongst other topics.
The 27 participants who attended the training were extremely enthusiastic and interactive. Participants found the course to be both practical and useful in the context of their day-to-day functions. The course setting provided a unique opportunity to network with individuals from the private and public sectors and positions ranging from business owners to auditors to finance people as well as others. We thank all of those participants who attended the training for making it such a great success! Click on testimonials for feedback received from participants.
