Course Description: Fraud is a prevalent risk in any entity.  However,  when it comes to not-for-profit and charitable organizations, the risk of fraud appears to be more significant.  Fraud can cause significant financial and reputational damage to such organizations. Understanding the vulnerabilities of such organizations and specific target areas where they are susceptible to fraud, is key to mitigating this known risk.At the conclusion of this one-day, interactive fraud awareness training course, participants will take away the following:

  • An understanding of what is fraud, indicators to look out for and the profile of a typical fraudster
  • Areas where charities and not-for-profits are particularly vulnerable to fraud risk
  • Typical fraud schemes commonly carried out in charities/not-for-profits and their “red flags”
  • Discussion of some of the recent fraud allegations impacting charities/NPOs
  • Trends in risk management
  • Hands-on experience dealing with fraud through a variety of break-out sessions involving exercises to apply skills developed from the course
